Job Purpose:

As part of the Commercial team of Port of Salalah, reporting to Senior Manager, the Sales Manager will be responsible for managing our existing customers and developing and driving our new business growth together with a team of skilled professionals.


Work Scope:

  • Manages customers and budget base; pursues and secures business in line with the business objectives.
  • Probes and identifies customer needs and provides solutions.
  • Builds a good understanding of target customers and the assigned account base.
  • Communicates significant trends, rate changes and policies to assigned accounts.
  • Researches and understands the territory to identify and establish business contacts with potential customers.
  • Researches and analyses competitive and industry trends.
  • Ensures customer relationship management tools are updated on time and are of excellent quality Is typically responsible for all segments of customers to the business.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Creates, articulates, and drives local strategies for different customer segments.
  • Manages and expand the existing customer accounts, maintaining senior relationships with top accounts while ensuring relevant relationships are maintained at all levels within customer organisations.
  • Identifies and establishes new customers and sales opportunities.
  • Achieves against targets and increase top line financial growth of Port of Salalah, while utilizing knowledge product/service offerings to drive top line growth.
  • Ensures optimal activity management, account management and ongoing analysis of current market trends, changes in the industry and potential changes to the customers by truly understanding the customers business and their needs.
  • Oversees forecasting and budgeting processes to align with business goals and objectives, including understanding current and potential future product/service offerings.
  • Manage sales pipeline and ensure that opportunities are driven and progressed through sales pipeline.
  • Research and share market and competitor information with applicable functions within the organisation to effectively build value propositions and sales opportunities.
  • Partner proactively with Customer Care team to resolve customer issues quickly and effectively.
  • Ensure proper implementation of closed deals and handover to customer care team including relevant functional departments in the organisations and proactively follow up on service execution.
  • Proactive communication with other functional departments in the organisation to ensure customer satisfaction, ongoing support to customer care team.


Who we are looking for:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent
  • Over 8 years post qualification experience in sales, over 5 years being within similar role in a local or multinational company.
  • Logistics expertise
  • Supply chain expertise (to optimize SOW across products), insight selling, connectors (stakeholder management, influencing skills)
  • High-level product understanding including how it solves different customer pains.
  • Strategic influencing and stakeholder management
  • Proven experience working with diverse teams in a matrix organization, leadership skills.
  • Negotiation skills/procurement tactics
  • Strategic partnering, financial acumen, matrix management, value co-creator, presentation skills
  • Able to work with MS Office, some accounting understanding will be a plus.
  • Should be forward thinking, planning and execution.
  • Having an understanding and respect of others
  • Honest and accountable - Professional and dedicated.
  • Excellent command of English language



Professional Specifications:

  • An expert level sales professional with a proven track record of targeting, pursuing and winning large scale opportunities - selling to Senior Management level.
  • Highly developed consultative selling approach, persuasiveness and influencing skills.
  • Ability to engage executive leadership at key points in the sales process during which their involvement provides additional support.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to understand a customer’s financial landscape enabling the development of solutions to help deliver value to the customer.
  • Experienced in composing quantifiable and measurable customer centric value-based proposals, maximising Port of Salalah’s suite of products and supporting colleagues with input on how to create compelling solutions.
  • Ability to review and refine strategic plans and discuss strategic topics with the customer regularly as a consultative resource and trusted partner. Well versed in strategy development and formulation of strategic steps
  • Experienced in formulating and explaining value for stakeholders in the customer's organisation in financial and motivational terms and conducting win-win negotiations resulting in opportunity closures.
