Since delivering our first order in Kuwait in 2004, we’ve grown quite a lot over the past 19 years. Today, we deliver hundreds of millions of food orders, grocery items and other products per year, to our customers in nine countries throughout the region with more than 3,000+ employees! Our food delivery business works with over 27,000 brands and almost 50,000 branches, while our q-commerce concept, talabat mart, now delivers groceries to customers in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman Qatar, and the UAE in 30 minutes or less!
Our philosophy is to make sure we do what is right for our ecosystem - our customers, our partners, our people, our riders, and the communities in which we operate. Our #techforgood program allows our customers a safe and convenient way to contribute to important causes in their community through donating to local and international charities directly on talabat with a focus on food insecurity in the region. Since its inception in 2020, we have facilitated the donation of well over 1 million meals to those in need, as well as donated over $1.5 million to charity with the help of our partners and customers. talabat is part of Delivery Hero, the global leader in online food delivery and q-commerce.
Role Summary
While talabat continues to accelerate the growth in its core of restaurant food delivery we are also expanding aggressively in other verticals such as groceries and kitchens; additionally, talabat has acquired and integrated (party) a number of entities in the region recently (ie, Zomato and Carriage) which further reinforce its leading marketing position.
All of the above (rapid growth in core at scale, diversification, M&A) has drastically increased the complexity of talabat’s organisation, in particular Oman, as talabat has been running each vertical and each brand separately while remaining true to its values of Local Empowerment thereby having many ‘independent’ teams. We’re seeking a Managing Director of Oman to elevate the existing organisation and simplify its operating model. The MD of Oman will be a senior member of the talabat Management team, and will be the ultimate owner of the P&L of all the business in Oman (on a strategic, tactical and day to day level).

This means that the ideal professional will hold a proven track record in driving successful functions and implementing core strategies that are linked to the top and bottom-line results of the organisation. With experience uncovering and designing solutions across dynamic and fast-moving firms, you will be passionate for what you do. Navigating complex systems on a daily basis to deliver key solutions. You will play an important role in representing the local voice with all the regional teams whilst working closely with CBO (and other C-levels) to;
- Define the quarterly OKRs and priorities for regional teams.
- Represent the key ‘customer’ for the Product and Tech organisation, work with them not only to define priorities but also problem solving on solutions.
- Shape the regional operating model of the multi vertical organisation.
- You have full ownership of the performance and PnL meaning you will;
- Define and execute the strategy and business plans for talabat, Oman.
- Prepare and negotiate annual budgets, delivering EBITDA as per budgets and suggesting investment decisions on top of budget (if required).
- Lead a large and diversified team of professionals across multiple brands and verticals.
- Ensure the smooth running of day to day business across key functions such as logistics, marketing, sales, partnerships, etc and being a key representative of the company for legal matters, PR, Comms, and government relations.
- Identify and analyze opportunities and solutions for accelerated growth across multiple brands and verticals.
- Launch local / regional / global transformational programmes, and driving continuous improvement across the organisation that can also be driven on a global scale.
