Job Description
- Act as focal point for the JIF, including external representation of the Forum in a range of settings and forums, including senior-level coordination bodies in close consultation with the SC.
- Work in partnership with the Steering Committee to Lead and coordinate the Forum strategy process, providing strategic guidance to the Forum.
- Ensure that the JIF’s position on specific issues and interests are well represented at relevant platforms and meetings. As much as possible promote representation by JIF members themselves especially the SC.
- Act as liaison and represent the Forum with local, regional and global NGO fora (such as ICVA and InterAction).
- Supervise and lead the coordination of thematic working groups developed within the Forum, and ensure coordination between working groups, member organisations, and the steering committee, as well as with broader Forum objectives.
- Ensure transparent coordination mechanisms and regular information-sharing among Forum members and other stakeholders.
- Ensure that the Forum’s internal guidance documents are updated and maintained.
- Manage the Forum’s budget, resources, and assets. Coordinate the payment of member dues. Lead on donor reporting and proposal development, and support NRC on grant management.
- Follow and undertake analysis on issues relevant to the Forum; synthesize and provide briefings on key concerns for JIF members. Research and draft policy, position and background/analysis papers on JIF issues, as tasked by the Steering Committee or Plenary.
- Facilitate consensus building across humanitarian and developmental landscape including taking actions in close coordination with the SC on engaging JIF members with humanitarian and/or development mandate.
- Play a key role in enabling the effective development of advocacy initiatives called for by Forum members, as supported by the Steering Committee.
- Supervise staff and consultants, as required.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field.
- At least 6 years of experience in humanitarian programming with an INGO in a senior position, such as Head of Program, Head of Operation or Country Director
- Knowledge and understanding of the UN system, aid coordination architecture in Nexus context/protracted response, and humanitarian principles essential.
- Strong communication, inter-personal, facilitation and diplomatic skills
- Prior experience with humanitarian and/or NGO coordination essential, preferably in refugee or post-conflict settings.
- Experience in representation in senior-level coordination mechanisms (HCR, IASC, etc), as well as with governments, donors and UN agencies.
- Ability to build, develop and maintain a wide network across all key stakeholders in a protracted multi-layered context.
- Knowledge of advocacy and policy change related to operational or protection space.
- Previous experience with directly coordinating NGO networks or sectors/clusters strongly preferred.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal, with strong writing and editing skills.
- Experience working in Jordan or at a minimum, the Middle East
- Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
