The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Client Accountant to join our Structured Finance Team as part of our financial services business in Luxembourg.

As part of the global expansion of the Maples Group’s financial services offering, our Luxembourg office opened its doors in 2007. As part of our Luxembourg team you will be performing below key duties:

Key duties:

Senior Client Accountant, depending on level of experience, are either responsible for independently undertaking a high volume of routine accounting mandates and/or complex mandates as directed by Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents, and/or for assisting Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents with the administration of a portfolio of accounting structured finance clients. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • analysing proposed structures from a new business acceptance perspective, obtaining approvals, where required;
  • preparing complex management accounts or reviewing management accounts prepared by Junior Client Accountants and Client Accountants and/or compiling financial statements (according to Lux GAAP and/or IFRS standard or any other accounting principles) on time and in accordance with the agreed terms of the engagement;
  • ensuring files are compliant with MaplesFS procedures and policies;
  • ensuring all relevant MaplesFS databases are completed and maintained with accurate information in relation to assigned portfolio of clients;
  • ensuring all administration and payments in respect of a client is completed in accordance with the MaplesFS policies and procedures and in a timely manner;
  • developing effective working relations with clients and responding promptly and professionally to client requests;
  • assessing and advising clients of accounting requirements and obtaining necessary documentation prior to commencing work in accordance with all internal procedures;
  • liaising with auditors during the audit planning stages and during the course of the annual financial statement audit;
  • preparing or reviewing tax computations and submitting tax returns for the relevant tax heads incl., CIT (Corporate Income Tax), VAT. This would also involve liaising with relevant tax advisors for and on behalf of a client company;
  • preparing or reviewing clients forecasts and budgets;
  • reviewing and submitting eCDF filings and BCL reporting within defined deadlines;
  • preparing or reviewing FATCA and CRS reporting.
  • reviewing clients payments;
  • consistently monitoring and minimising receivables;


 

Requirements:

In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

  • Fluent in English;
  • Accounting or any other relevant degree;
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience ideally gained in financial services;
  • Professional accountancy qualification (i.e. ACA/ACCA/CIMA) would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of Luxembourg GAAP & IFRS;
  • Strong knowledge of Luxembourg corporate accounting gained in Fiduciary, Audit or any other similar business;
  • Strong knowledge of Luxembourg Securitisation Vehicles;
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
  • Team player.
