Role purpose:
The L2 IT engineer will be part of the IT Operations team, managing VFQA IT Nodes Billing/Invoicing/Charging/Reporting/CRM/Order Management/Inventory/Mediation and Channel. Roaming Operations and reporting platforms, maintaining a 24/7 superior network KPIs with high availability of 99.99%, achieving quality leadership in a very competitive market. Being a multi-vendor environment, he/she has to perform vendor management for incident management and SLA negotiations as per the Vodafone policies. IT L2 Engineer will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and 2nd level operational support of the IT stack applications.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
- Expert knowledge of IT call flows and scenarios as per 3GPP, GSMA IR, IEEE and ETSI standards, outstanding troubleshooting skills using internal/external tracing tools, wire shark, etc...
- Analyze daily and weekly health checks reports for IT domain and proactively responding to degraded KPIs and alarms within the acceptable SLA limits.
- Responsible for maintaining E2E measurement data and network KPIs within agreed OLAs & SLAs, ensuring network reliability and availability with minimal MTTR through promoting strong incident and proactive problem management practices.
- Provide on-site level 2 operations and maintenance support when needed, Incident and Problem management, applying proper corrective actions to restore the service.
- Manage technical product catalogue (Update, create, delete products in BSS stack)
- Backup and restore application and DBs
- Do regular patching and software upgrade activities
- Create and manage DevOps pipelines
- Run Billing and Invoicing cycles
- Do Order trouble shooting
- Run regular data reporting through CDRs and DB tables
- Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) through Major Incident Reviews (MIR) with the Vendors and update KEDB documentations.
- Participate in carrying out Weekly Business Reviews (WBR) and Major Incident Reviews (MIR).
- Develop method of procedures for various IT services and change requests, utilizing automation scripts to simplify operations (Example: Shell, Expect, Python, Perl...).
- Deploy & Integrate new nodes, execute & oversee acceptance process (BRM, CRM, UIM, OSM ,OCOMC, OC3C,ECE,Channels, etc...), support IT teams in various projects.
- Execute and validate SW bug fixes, release upgrades and expansions.
- Responsible for IT Audit, Operational performance, Capacity, Trend, Risk and Gap analysis.
- Participate in an on-call Rota and flexible working hours (Night shifts as required)
- Do backup and restore for DB and applications
Key performance indicators
- Zero related incidents due to non-standard implementation of security protection and missing notification.
- Support customer operations to meet Customer TTs in SLA.
- Assure network resilience is in place and trigger action points once we start breaking the resiliency due to traffic increase
- Guide and Mentor L1 IT Team
Skills
- Core competencies, knowledge and experience
- Knowledge in Oracle product BRM,CRM,UIM,OSM,OCOMC,OC3C,ECE,Channels,OKVM and any other domain based on the request. Support L2 e etc, with knowledge of Kubernetes
- Previous working experience in network operations center (NOC) will be an advantage
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, Server HW, Architecture, Containerization, Virtualization
- Preferably ITIL foundation certified with good understanding of ITIL Service Operation like Incident Management, Problem management etc.
- Good background of Oracle DBX stack, Knowledge on RODOD is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge on Roaming & interconnect
- Good knowledge in Kubernetes and OKVM
- Good knowledge on DevOPS tools( Jenkins, Nexus, ELK, Docker)
- Good knowledge about Oracle DB and Oracle Linux
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Team player with ability to develop and maintain strong relationships, self-motivated personality and eagerness to learn.
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- Graduate in Telecom/Data/ Computer Networking Engineering or in any relevant domain.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in implementing IT components with telecom networks.
- IP knowledge is advantage (CCNA certification)
- Knowledge on Telco cloud networking, Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and software defined networking (SDN) will be add-on.
- Preferably ITIL foundation certified with good understanding of ITIL Service Operation like Incident Management, Problem management etc.
