Matatiki: Hornby Centre; The eagerly awaited facility will serve the growing community in Ōtautahi's southwest. It will include a modern library, customer services hub and recreation and sports centre. Offering a multi-purpose lane pool, family spa pool, multi-purpose rooms for activities and for quiet study, as well as a café. An important hub for the community.

About The Role

We are looking for our next Libraries Learning Specialist to play a key role in the delivery of our newest facility. The Programme Design and Delivery team plans, delivers and promotes learning programmes to the community, enhancing and encouraging learning and educational outcomes. As a Learning Specialist, you will support and communicate with a diverse range of customers by engaging, motivating and inspiring them to be the best they can be.

About You

Our courses and classes have a focus on learning with innovative and creative technologies for all ages and stages. A sound knowledge of a range of software, and digital technologies is therefore required in this role.

Matatiki will hold a purpose built Auahatanga Creative Space in its centre, as well as a mini recording studio. The person in this role will be responsible for activating both of these spaces, through various workshops and open creative sessions. They would also be working with the community, as well as local schools and businesses to see how this space can be utilised most effectively.

To succeed in this unique role, you will have previous experience in education or learning, a passion for helping others, and the flexibility to learn new skills. You'll have a sense of initiative, excellent self-management skills, and above all a creative spirit. Not only do you get to inspire, you get to play! Encourage young and old to connect with their artistic side, grow their skillsets, and have a whole lot of fun doing it.
