Based in Hamilton, your primary responsibility will be to generate and deliver accurate, interesting and well-written stories of interest to Waikato and national audiences.

Day-to-day, You'll Be Responsible For

• Producing significant stories and multimedia content to the highest standard possible
• Covering the major issues in the local area and where appropriate regularly break stories
• Understanding the needs of Waikato audiences and mining your territory for the best, most entertaining and beautifully wrought local stories
• Having original ideas that help to set the local and national news agenda
  

This is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same. To succeed you will need:

• Strong journalistic skills including the ability to write and self-edit
• The ability to curate strong packages with immediate audience appeal
• High level of skills in using and navigating social media networks
• An understanding and ability to deliver ethical, balanced, well-researched work
• A desire and a passion to provide readers with high quality journalism and content
• Able to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as unsupervised and independently
• Must be a self-starter and able to work to deadlines
• Not be afraid to speak up and have excellent banter
