We're looking for aJournalist with a desire to provide premium news and information for New Zealanders.

Your primary responsibility will be to deliver beautifully told independent South Island journalism through digital and print media to our subscribers and valuable audiences.

Day to day, you'll be busy working on

• Generating and delivering accurate coverage of local, national or topic-based stories that are relevant and engaging to our audiences.
• Growing expertise in a round and developing reliable and relevant contacts
• Finding and writing exclusive stories
• Adding valuable context and insight to breaking news stories
  

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Need

• The ability to innovate and generate fresh ideas
• The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across editorial and other departments and contribute as part of a team
• The ability to work unsupervised and independently when required
• Strong journalistic skills including the ability to write, self-edit, and meet deadlines
• An understanding and ability to deliver ethical, balanced, well-researched words and visuals
• An understanding of audience metrics and desire to continually upskill and grow knowledge of audience and platforms
• High level of skills in using and navigating social media networks, including third-party social media tools.
• A desire to provide readers with high quality journalism and content
• The curiosity and drive to produce high-quality original work
• The capacity and desire to continue training and participating in ongoing professional development
• A desire to continue to grow knowledge of international media trends, across digital and print, as required
